Great. Is it possible to cut out the rusty cac and weld a new repair panel in place with the car in tact, ie not as part of a rebuild?

I got a surprise on an mpi rear subframe, it was for a refresh but when we removed it was pretty dodgy on top.

 

replaced it with a mini spares powder coated non genuine job and it bolted straight in with no problems!!  Had been expecting a wrestling match.

 

the wee car is driven a lot and has plenty of waxoil reapplied regularly - MOT testers hate me!!!  The subframe still looks good.
