Hi all

My mini has some wiper issues.

The problem got bigger when I detached the wiper stalk, it fell apart and a spring and brass contact roller attacked me.

where the roller should be seems easy (pic 2), but where the spring should be??

who can help me out?

I think the stalk originates form e Metro.

Thanks for your quick replies!!

I don’t get how....

between the fixed and the moving part?

on the moving part there is a narrow space to go through, outside the first an 4th contact is not an option, nor is moving the stalk...

Put the hole in the spring over the post on the moving bit, hook the legs inside the posts at the wide part, reassemble. If it does not fit change the bent leg of the spring to the other side.Think of it as a £50 puzzle.Have fun,Steve..

The Spring is there for the 'flick wipe' function. It returns the Stalk to the Off position once you take your hand off the Stalk and it's also the electrical contact for that function.

I'm not sure if these photos may help ?

In the FLICK-WIPE Position;-

You can just see how the Spring makes contact

Happy New Year to you too.

It's a lot different, eh ?

OK, great ;D, Lucas did apply some grease tp the contacts, I'd say it was a Contact Type Grease.

Will coppergrease do? Or does that isolate and disturb the electrical contact?

If using Coppercoat, just literally a very thin smear, it is highly conductive and can short all the terminals.

I'd suggest in lieu of Contact Grease, a light general purpose Grease would be a better choice, and again, just a thin smear.
