For the Mini and alikes I thing Spider and MiniMadRacer pretty much hit the nail on the head.
The high price car market (Ferraris, Lamborginis and that crap) are a different kettle of fish - here it will depend on how the financial markets develop, what sort of investment opportunities will arise.
Currently "the money" doesn't know where to put their wealth, i.e. they have so much money to play with they don't mind if their Ferraborghini costs 1 or 5 milliions as long as it goes up in value.
