I found above racing Austin Mini (Cooper S ?) mk1 in another forum. It may be for sale and I am tempted.
Does anybody know it and about it?
Last V5 issued in 2006, tax due since 2010 and currently not residing in the UK

What are your thoughts. Worth buying if the price is right?

by the way: I dislike the title-capitalisation function - Arghh!

Pretty sure it is not what it says on the tin - i.e. not a Cooper S. DVLA records state:

Date first Reg.: 02/1963

Make: Austin

Capacity: 1275

It would be a pretty early 1071S I suppose if it were an S. Highly unlikely I'd say. :D

I haven't seen it in the flesh yet, just researching it a bit at the moment.

I have an idea I have seen this car before either in the flesh or on here or on another portal.

I don’t think it is what it says it is.

Nick you are spoiling the broth ;)
I know, that is the forum I nicked the photos from - with consent from the poster.

I know this cannot be a Cooper S. But still I find it an intersting car and would love to know more about it.

You got the VIN back then, where you able to find out anything about it?

For me it seems to have some racing pedigree, not just a "cafe racer" as some highly praised person derogatorily classed it on the other forum.

Wiper motor is a bit of a give away.  Don’t think it has ever had any competition pedigree and it is not near the age suggested.

You think it’s a ringer?
Well if it sells for an attractive price it could contain interesting bits.
It is definitely unique :D

I don’t think it is what it is being described as. But as there has been so much work done to it it is hard to say just from pictures. Just about anything that could be used to identify it as what it is being described as are easily added. Likewise the wiper motor could easily have just been added in its life. Unless it is proven it has no premium value it is just a deseamed mk1/2 Mini with a hot engine.

This is probably of no significance, but my Dad had a motorbike with reg AOR 123A.  It was a 1960, hence should not be on a A reg, and would of had its probably original reg transferred and sold. Hence I wonder if the AOR series is another of the DVLA pool of regs which they gave out when reg numbers of this age were taken off vehicles?

Not that this has any bearing on legitimacy of the car in question, but it may not be it's original reg number is all I'm saying. If you check out other AOR xxxA series there is a whole variety of ages, ie. AOR 636A is 1954, you get my point.
