We were noticing water in the fuel filter, this was at the same time I was getting some weird idling, sure enough, there was water in the float bowl, and of course the water pools right under where the fuel gets sucked up. Definitely a case of 'form over function'! The effing cap's going in the bin, it's a complete PITA to use anyway and the underside of it is rusted where the rain has run through.
As you'll have no doubt worked out, the float bowl has a little reservoir for the water area and a drain plug.
It then went in the anodising tank:
The anodising didn't come out quite as well as expected as you never know quite what alloy it is (and hence how it'll take) when you're dealing in scrap and offcuts.
