i have this really weird vibrating rattling kinda noise coming from the drivers side front wheel. it happens mainly when im coming to a stop and is at its loudest when i am stationary and set the revs between 1400-1600 RPM.

does anyone have any idea what it could be?

check ball joints, shock mounts, knuckle joints, wheel bearings... if you're on front disks, check the disk guard, these often rattle and can just be ground off.

Wierd that its loudest when your stationary though! The disc gaurds is an option i suppose, but you have the beneift of letting it idle and getting your head near where you think the noise is coming from, might just appear as though its the wheel but might be in the engine bay?

i've had a nosy around but didn't feel around the brake area. by brake guard, do you mean the dust shield? i'll have a look at that and maybe remove it if that is the problem

Thats it, between the hub and the disc...will be obvious if it has broken loose

drop gears are on that side but would be more of a clatter i would have thought!! i've seen lots of disc brake backplated break off at the steering arm, well actually anywhere!!

get an attractive female assistant to rev the car and feel things til u find that touching something stops it!! try to feel the car as oppose to your assistant tho ;)
