Hi there,

No doubt this question has been asked many times before. I have treid unsucsefully to search.

My 1975 mini is fitted with a 1275 MG Metro motor. Recently I have noticed that there is a slight "sreaming" noise, which goes away when the clutch is pepressed. So I am presuming it may well be the thrust washer. Anyone any other ideas before I race ahead and replace the bearing. I understand is is a resonably simple operation to change the bearing.

Look forward to any constructive help.

Cheers

Grandpa

Do you know if it has a Verto Clutch or the earlier type ?

The Verto has a Clutch Throw Out Arm that's about 4" long and the earlier type is about 8" long.

OK, that's the earlier type.

I doubt the noise will be from the Thrust Bearing, as if it's adjusted correctly, when you have your foot off the Clutch Pedal, it doesn't (normally) spin.

Hard to say without hearing it, but the noise could be from the Idler Gear Bearings.
