"seat area" Please Think Carefully Before Doing This As That Part Of The Car Provides Chassis Strength As Well As Strengthining The Body So It's Less Seceptible To Warping. All Racing Minis Still Keep This Part!

Really?? :w00t:

I thought that was more to do with the regs of the class of racing rather than strength.

I'll be first to put my hand up and say im wrong, but the rear bins are flimsy as hell and the rear seat sags when some one with a fat arse sits on it. Ive had minis where the rear seat pan has been bent with over use and age, hows that providing extra strength. The rear seat back/bulkhead, however, IS .

I would have to agree 100% with what minisprocket has said on this one.... removing bins and the overhanging section of the rear seat will not weaken anything..... even if it did with the multi point cage going in there is nothing to worry about.

Your're Right With The Storage Bins, They Don't Need To Be In The Car But What I Failed To Mention Was That You Need To Keep The Rear Seat Section And Brace It. In The Event Of A Rear Impact Or Rear Three Quater This Will Absorb A Hell Of A Lot More Impact Than An Aluminium Sheet Would.

thanks for the advice but not too worried about a rear impact, i am going to be triangulating the cage off the rear sus turrets and carrying that through the rest of the car.
the engine will be 1275 block bored out to prob bout 1380 with the k1100i bmw cyl head grafted on.

yeah, will be doing everything myself, as a winter project.

i have got about 10 16v cylinder heads to try on the block to see how they line up, if all those fail i will be buying a bmw head to bang on it.

i have heads off gsxr1000's, hayabusa's, gsxr 750's, old yam heads, and a few older honda heads to try on so things could be interesting.
