What type of battery is it and has it sufficient capacity compares the standard?

It's an Odyssey, not sure which model. Should be plenty of capacity. I have friends who've had them last 15 years +.

Possibly an example of why MPi's have their reputation for rust (unless older Minis were also manufactured in this manner.) I believe this is as it was from the factory. It wouldn't save a shoddy restorer any time or money to put the hinge on after the boot lid was painted - it probably would be easier actually.

I recently removed the boot lid from my 91 Cooper and it was the same!

I'm 99.9% sure that the boot lid had never been off since it left Longbridge.......

I have recently stripped and refurbished a 4,500 mile from New 97 mpi that had not been touched in its life except for some minor paintwork on the front panel. The reason for the work was to change the colour.
Upon stripping the shell which was in almost perfect shape having been garaged all its life I found bare metal under the scuttle, behind the door and boot hinges and lots of areas underneath that were bare metal or just very lightly primed.

It really showed me just how slapdash the finishing was in these cars and where the rust starts and how it spreads.

Cheers
Ben
