Some wax may be a good idea while it's still clean & dry to discourage water from any crevices.

 

I don't think there's much point in panicking if they're on. Odds on it would be well on its way to a full rebuild anyway or they  wouldn't normally have been used. Just factor it in to any valuation.

I fitted oversills to mine but the inner sills etc where all repaired properly all rust cut out and new welded in. as long as the rest of the car has been repaired properly i don't see why they are an issue at all. I did lots of photos to prove this so when the time comes to sell ,the next owner cast rest assured the job has been done properly. been 5 years and no hint of rust or problems and also did fill them with plenty of waxoyl.

For me the rust is not the biggest issue.To me this is the strength lost by not having the correct box section formed by the inner sill.In a side impact they have the potential to burst open.I appreciate there are many ways of skinning the cat as it were.
My view is a car with over sills is a project.Controversial?maybe but this is just my view.Steve..(owner of a car which had over sills).
