The fact that your engine is an A+ means there's a good chance that it doesn't have the coolant drain plug in the block. Unfortunately, only very early A+ blocks retained this feature.
Thanks Imack. I'll jack the car to tilt out what I can, then, with further flushing via the thermostat opening. It's been good learning and appreciate yours and others' guidance.
We got to the bottom of it in the end.
