Quite shocked at how high mx5nut car looks. I hope they settle down. I purchased a set of these earlier this year but haven't fitted them yet. Disappointed if that is a typical result as I bought these thinking Hilos would not be required as Minispares state on their web page. Indeed the page says if Hilos are used the hysterisis on the cones will be affected. As mx5nut says there is no specific recommendation on the web page to fit Hilos.

I just pushed the car out of the garage and back in, and it settled about a half inch or so. I am measuring from the top of the center cap on my wheel to the top of the wheel arch, and am basically at 13.5 inches on all four corners. I will try to do that every day. I haven’t bled the brakes yet so I can’t drive around in the streets, but should get that taken care of over the weekend and hope to see more settling from going over bumps in the road.

If I don’t see much more progress in terms of settling over the next week, I may reach out to Minispares.

Settling will occur more from driving than from just sitting there. I’d give it a few months of driving to get it to the “normal” height

Of course the changing ride height may change the wheel alignment, so keep an eye on that too

I am sure you have this covered but did you tighten the parts with rubber bushes after lowering to the ground? so as to not "set" them incorrectly.Similarly it may pay to loosen and retighten after settling?.Just a thought,Steve..

Haven’t had a chance to do anything regarding driving, since I still haven’t been able to bleed the brakes. I plan to get that done tonight, providing that my infant daughter cooperates and stays asleep tonight! Nothing has happened with settling over the last week, so I expect to see more change once I can safely get out on the streets.

Ok, so going back to my original question about whether or not it is normal for the car to sit high like this right after lowering the car, it seems like the answer is “yes.” For the record, I am totally fine with that and waiting for some period for settling. Since this is my first time doing suspension work in the Mini, I am being cautious and wanting to verify my work. I am also going to move the car around in my driveway and go for some short drives in my neighborhood to help the settling.

Gav mentioned that hi-los were recommended in the recommendation section, but regular trumpets are also in the same section. I wonder if they could clarify the product description to add a statement on ride height expectations for use with regular trumpets and hi-los. Maybe something to say that using regular trumpets is totally fine, but that initial ride height will be well above normal and eventually settle to factory ride height (or something close).

I've added a small amendment to the web description :)
