Hello

 

For about 2-3 days the search function is not working - at least for me. Any word I type in the result is "no result".

 

Is the fault in my side or .... ?

The search function has never worked for me (on mobile version of the forum) the latest results were always at least a year or two old which is frustrating when you are trying to find something that you read recently (within the past 12 months). So I gave up using it.

However, after seeing this thread Ive just tried and am getting the same result as you are experiencing....nada hits!

The site was down for some time during this morning...so probably why there's no search function...db reindex, search index routine down...who knows.

I've always used google to search the site, and it's always given me more relevant results.

For example, I want to know about subframe mounts. So I'll type 'subframe mounts theminiforum.co.uk' into the search bar

It's broken croc. The admins know and are investigating.

Another member advised to search via Google. Just type in your search along with theminiforum.co.uk
The way Google's web crawler works may mean you may not see very recent posts that meet your search, but it's better than now't!

Is there something wro g with the search option? I am able to write in it but nothing comes up. I've even put in topics already exist word for word and still nothing.

This is the third time this has been raised now and the answers are in previous threads which i have merged and will do with this one as well.

In the interim, the forum can be searched using Google.

 

Go to a Google Search page, then type in The Mini Forum followed by what it is you are looking for.

 

It's not as effective as the Forum's own Search function, but my tie us over until this is fix.

You can use "site:theminiforum.co.uk" as a prefix for any search to force Google to limit the results to this website only, and filter out gubbins from other websites - it works pretty well then

Site search should be fixed now.

 

However, it does have limitations (and it likely always will) so using the 'site' keyword with Google like MiniCarJack suggests is usually my go to method!
