I've just come across what I believe to be genuine S shafts and H/S joints. The shafts have the additional lump along the length and the joints have had new bearings fitted. They all appear to be in excellent condition. Are these a desired item and if so what sort of value could I be looking at? Thanks.

Prices seem to vary - I've seen them go for buttons but at the same time I've seen some for sale recently at over £150 which I think is a bit strong.
The driveshafts are functionally no different to normal ones, they are no stronger or thicker (apart from where the raised ring is).

However if they are in good condition then they are certainly saleable.  In fact I would be interested myself as I could do with a set of joints - could you send pictures?

Thanks for the reply, this is the only picture I have at the moment, taken whilst replacing the bearings.

Looks like it has drum CVs fitted. Odd that.

Thinking about it they might well have come from an automatic, if that is the case would the shafts and joints be the same as those from cooper S ?

Yes  other than the outer CV and the diff side connections can be different,

I’m not sure if it was here or another forum but I have seen some debate about whether the drive shafts with the bump and actually specific to S or just from a different sub manufacturer to the smooth ones.

Not heard that one before. But an earlier post comments that they are the same material….

If you want to split, I'm interested in the shafts.  Got joints.

The shafts with the lump are from Automatic and Cooper S - hence the small CV's on the shafts shown above. The Hardy Spicer shafts are a different length to rubber coupling shafts

Think it was 1/8" (may even have been less) - something and nothing and effectively interchangeable.

Interesting. One shorter shaft no bump. So most likely from a Hardy spicer joint set up from an Auto. The rest from X type.
