true but having tow'd a few trailers you need some waight in them or they bounce down the road and a fiberglass one may not last that!i will be selling the linkage , that will come with the chassis.
yes you can make one out of the back end of a mini , but have you felt how heavy they are ! thats even before putting anything in them
Matt
also by the time you add about £200 to the tub price for a towing frame, suspention units, wheels/tyres, rear lights/numberplate, towing hitch, wiring, wheel arches, ooh and painting the tub/lid (be lucky if you could get that lot for £200) thats up to £700+P&P (was there v.a.t.?)
you can buy a brian james two wheel car transporter trailer for just under a grand (i know its a diff type of trailer but its a lot more for your money)
most people i think are looking for some thing cheep that looks good and is practical why not make a rounded fiber glass front panel/lid that people could fit to a cut down mini rear end to make there own trailers?
will be cheeper to make and cheeper for people to buy?
im not tring to rubbish your poject just saying what i thing ( you can tell me to shut up know)
good luck with your trailer

That said, since so few people do them, and have to invest in making moulds, preping, building and painting them, they have to be priced accordingly. I expect once a few have been made and the initiall desing costs are covered (and more people make similar ones at the same price) the price may come down a bit... but don't hold your breath!!
The mini rear end conversions are heavy as hell in comparison and they rust..... and i don't have a welder, or time to do it.

I know how much it costs to start this up, having looked into it, and hope you sell loads.

i'm not saying they wont sell, just its a small market i think!
and not many people want to tow a trailer behind a mini
still matt you have done all the hard work making the molds now!
so i hope you get some orders in, good luck
ian

The only fibreglass one that is currently available to my knowledge is the P&L one and that also sells for about £700 as a basic, uncustomised trailer. The Mini Trailers square ones were a bit cheaper but a much simpler mould. And I think based on the plug that this one looks better then the P&L. As for building a steel one from a Mini bear in mind that an unbraked trailers gross weight is legally limited to half the kerb weight of the towing vehicle. That means somewhere between 300 and 400 kg for a Mini. I would guess without having exact figures that a steel Mini trailer would weight somewhere between 150 and 200 kilos, if not more. There may be very little capacity left in the thing but that is purely a guess. I know that lightweight trailers bounce a bit but it's better for the wieght in the trailer to constist of the stuff you are using it to carry, not the trailer itself.
Framini do one too... www.framini.co.uk...
The time and effort to make a steel one just isn't an option for me... i want one, and i could afford it but i have other priorities.. just bought a new car for the mrs too so i gotta keep something for a rainy day!!!! The trailers look good and are perfect for towing on a mini... but, there a cheaper trailers out there that will pull more and can be used as a normal trailer whereas one like this i would only ever use for shows!!!!

The point of a mini shaped trailer is not to tow lots of bits and bobs but to show off and get attention. A normal trailer on a mini quite frankly looks poo!
I really hope this takes off mate.
Good Luck

if i get one i'm gonna have to get a body kit to match the car... then have it painted the same!! probably another £300 on top??? no time at the moment, i'll just have to get the wife to follow behind in the support bus!!!!
that sounds like a good idea !!! never seen it done before ..
