I've a 2000 Cooper Sport with the 3 VDO volts, clock and oil temp gauges in the middle of the dashboard. The clock is running slow (variably) and the oil temp gauge isn't registering anything (including when I put a few volts across it from a battery).

Reading elsewhere the soldering in these gauges ages over time so what I want to do is resolder the joints and see if I can get them working but I'm stumped as to how to open the clock and oil temp gauges up.

Does anyone have a technique for opening these VDO gauges up without destroying the casing?

I've seen a post from 2016 ref. posting them to a bloke who can fix them but I'm in Australia so if I can do it myself then I'd like to give it a try (and accept the risk that I might end up having to buy 3 x Smiths replacements).
