A Cursed Car

Taken my spanking new 10 x 6 revolutions and yokodramas to a specialist local wheel place to fit and balance.
They've damaged 1 wheel and tyre and said they can't fit them. They have the same problem with caterhams who are based around the corner.
They are replacing both damaged items which is great so I promised them any work down the line for my vehicles I will take them there so he can make his money back but who do I use?
They can't be that unusual surely in the day of 30 profile tyres

I suspect their machine can't handle 10" rims (many can't) and they've tried to fit the tyres manually.
You need to find a garage that still uses an older machine - generally a more old school back street spot. The same ones that would turn you away if you turned up with 21" rims as their machine won't go that big!

Similar thing happened to me.
Do they realise Mini wheels have to have tyres put on with the wheels upside down to what they are used to? i.e. the well in the wheel is not in the middle of the wheel but nearer to the outside, so the tyre must be mounted from the outside. Difficult to explain, but try looking at the wheel and remember that as the tyre is mounted it must be pulled down into the well so the opposite side will reach over the rim.

Not sure. He just said yokohams are always difficult. The effort has just cost him nearly 150 quid though

The last place I had my 10" wheels done and also 10" wheels fully aligned was "Topmarks Tyres" in Coulsdon
A bit further from Crawley but might be worth a call to check.

When I fit 10" tyres do them with the wheel upside down, there were 10x6 mws wheels (revolites) 10-15 years ago that had the wrong profile well and wouldnt remove without damage.

Probably a bit far away for you Graham but before i moved i used JP Tyres in Eastbourne. They fitted my Yokos to my Cooper S rims with no problams.

Not sure I'd agree with the Yoko comment - I've never had any Yoko's fitted professionally for years, always done them myself with tyre levers and they go on fine.
At least he's offered to help, £150 is a lot of profit when you take all his costs out.

Yep, sounds like cursed to me. I've had a fair number of A008 and A032 tyres successfully put on 10" wheels at 3 different garages.
The only slight problem I have ever had is that balance weights on the inside have to be carefully positioned if they are not going to catch on the front calipers.
