Thank you very much for the information. Yes the springs are under the nuts. 
It might really be a heat problem. Would you try to build a heat sheet under the manifold / carb? Or wrap the manifold?

I currently run a RC 40 system and was thinking of going to the maniflow RCM system. Med offers a 1 7/8 RCM and the 2“. 
Will a slightly bigger diameter stay cooler as the heat can be transferred faster ?

I think the maniflow system also sits a bit higher and has better ground clearance. I found a picture in the mk1 forum and it really looks neat.

I will also check the fuel pressure, car runs with a facet pump and facet filter / regulator

Is it just me or does the fuel line to the Filter King look a bit tight? Could it be that when it all warms up the line is pulling on the carbs possibly causing a leak at the manifold.

I have moved the regulator in the trunk with the pump since this picture has been taken. Fuel line is through the car now.

Sorry pointless having the regulator in the boot. 
 

best place is in the engine bay as close to the carb as possible.

 

you are now struggling to push low pressure fuel to the carb.

 

reg in engine bay. You push high pressure to the engine bay. And you only move low pressure fuel a short distance.

 

re think the position of the filter king. It also acts as a reservoir  if the pump is over powered.

Sorry I have been offline two days, good point. I will move the regulator back in the engine bay and check fuel pressure, springs on manifold and install may be a hear shield.

I have relocated the pressure regulator and adjusted the fuel pressure and car was perfect last weekend. It seems that the location of the filter king in the boot caused the problem. Thank you all very much👍👍

I removed the gauge after adjusting the pressure
