Consider now a A350-1000 will use just under 50 tons to do the same flight. Similar figures for a B787-900.

Quite a massive saving in fuel costs. Yes not as many bums on seats but if you fill the front of the Aircraft ie first/upper class and premium then the rest is profit. So even though these aircraft are smaller, the operating costs are a lot cheaper. So the reduction in head count is offset in less fuel etc. Ahh the joys or Avaiation.

Google says that's 4,233 miles. A Mini City E does 60.1mpg @ 56mph, so that's 71 gallons and under 4 days, allowing for toilet stops.
