Two crossheads to lower the heater, no need to dislocate from rear pegs, although sometimes it can make the job easier.
Then there are two little 5/16" nuts up and behind holding the switch panel on. Remove then the panel comes forward.
Unscrew retaining nut from cable at back of switch panel and the rest is obvious.
The fun part is getting the little nuts back on.

Agreed I bought my mini with one side missing (choke side) so the bolt that protrudes on the z peice ripped through the dash oneday and now theres a nice split in it. Eventually found the nut in the boot and then spent about 2 hours trying to get the bolt through the ruddy hole.
Have fun. I have to do mine today as the choke cable decided it didn't like the carberettor...again >.<

Well nobody uses the heater cable anyway, you could fit two choke cables to your panel, and just swap them over at the carb end when one breaks, means taking the dash apart half as often...

If it's just the inner cable that’s snapped, you don’t need to replace all of it, as you can get a way with only replacing the broken bit, well I have been (got through 6 choke cables this year>

No what happened was that it managed to slip out of the bolt without breaking, but I yanked it a bit hard and how its hanging out.
