David Vizard's - Silverstone track record set with his 1293cc Mini

"In this, episode 46 of Powertec 10, David Vizard tells how Hi-tech and circumstances led to him setting a record at one of England's premier race track, namely Silverstone, that will probably never be broken. Not by even the F1 brigade and all done with a really slick 1293 Mini Cooper 'S'. At this point in time, that is before viewing the video, you will never guess, not even in a hundred years, how this came about."

Is that the beam he mentions that handled so badly they welded it solid?

That was the 'quick fix' improvement in the early development and testing....before it was discovered the rear roll centre height was very important.

DV posted online on his facebook page in 2020 that he had undergone emergency brain surgery and that since then he has had various issues getting things done and forgetting things, so he changed to doing more video production and less writing. Back in the 1980’s when DV was publishing his monthly 'Mini Tech News' he started spending the winter months in the USA and summer in the UK as doctors advised him that he needed to escape the damp UK winter climate to improve respiratory problems caused by grinding cylinder heads over  many years.
