I am considering changing front subframe when removing engine.  I currently using subframe for 998 (KGB10022).  See link

https://www.minispor...t/view/id/9697/

I have 1275 engine with HIF44 Carb.  See more detail in this link: https://www.theminif...5/#entry3688763

Should I switch to 1990 subframe with more clearance?  This subframe (KGB10027) moves engine 1/4 forward.

Since all the front sub-frames are virtually identical, except the original ones, there is little to be gained by changing them over unless the old one is bent/damaged.

They don't tend to rust and if you want the engine further forwards, just drill some new holes.

The best modification you can do is to solidly mount the front sub-frame and do away with all the horrible rubber mounts. One word of caution is not to use the poly-bush mountings - they are just junk. If solidly mounting, make sure the front toe-board is reinforced locally, which is a simple job.

Just use the one you have and adjust the top engine steady.

What is needed to reinforce the front toe-board?

I normally use a piece of 1.2 mm thick steel sheet about 6" square, plug and seam welded to the toe-board where the sub-frame mounts are positioned.

Someone has put some photos on here, but I can't find them at present.
