Electric car sales in the UK jumped in December 2022 to 33% of the total car sales.

That guy is one of the most highly regarded motoring journalists in the world, and one of the people who created Evo magazine.

He makes some excellent points. On his YouTube channel you can see him test driving various electric cars, so he has a very balanced view of things.

I'd say the (very rich) guy churning 3 electric cars is doing more for the environment than the bloke with the 10yr old diesel. He'll need a hell of an income to stay very rich, but he will have subsidised 2 secondhand car buyers all the way down the chain to take a couple of old smokers off the road.

 

I believe it takes an average 6 years of filling up your tank to offset the production cost in CO2.

 

We haven't made enough of chargeable hybrids though, he's right on that.
