All imperial sizes, right up to the last cars. You may find a couple of metric fixings on some of the electrics but all mechanical items will be imperial.

3/8 is near as nuts half way between 9 and 10mm
7/16 is 11mm
1/2 is slightly smaller than 13mm
9/16 is a little bigger than 14mm
5/8 is awkward 16mm sometimes covers it!!
11/16 is in the 17 - 18mm region
3/4 is 19mm
7/8 is 22mm
15/16 is 24mm
hope that helps!!
what have you got to do to it?

As standard most things are imperial, but minis have been around so long now that as fikus says, any kind of nut or bolt could have been put on there!

I'm sorry, but a mini specialist with only metric tools does not bode well..... That just shows a complete lack of consideration for customer vehicles, and mechanics...
Up until a couple of months ago, I didn't have a metric tool in box.... actually that's a lie, 1 30mm socket for the verto flywheel bolt.
What I am coming across more often tho' is where metric bolts have been used to replace UNC bolts, which is a right pain in the ****, especially as I dont have a spanner, and it goof's up the threads.

I think he is saying that he has got a job in a mini garage and he only owns metric tools and wants to know what imperial tools he should buy?

Having used metric tools on imperial bolts, all I can say is dont ! Get a decent set of both and you will be fine. Most socket sets come with a selection of the two anyway
