Okay thanks, will try pre-bleeding the master cylinder, as well as your method Mr Piggy.

Will follow up.

Just a quick question: would a bench bleed with a kit like this (https://shop.wilwood...der-bleeder-kit) be useful? I note that the brake fluid reservoirs of beforementioned link has 2 compartments, do the ones on our cars have that too? I don't recall.

Yes, there'll be a divider in the reservoir.

You could easily make up some pipes like that, or chop up an old brake line or hose. It doesn't have to feed back in to the reservoir as long as it doesn't run empty.

I think bleeding works better with suction, I use a syringe to pull the air & fluid through.

I made up a bench bleeder kit using old brake lines that I bent to shape and then added plastic tubes to easily place into/remove from the reservoir.

It sounds like you have a stubborn air lock. Without the pressure bleeder connected, open a front bleed nipple and stamp on the brake pedal. If you haven't got a helper, release the pedal very slowly, if you have a helper, close the nipple for the up stroke. Do this a few times. Then bleed as normal.

Thanks. Will give this a try tomorrow evening.
