hi boys can any body help please, i have crossed the coil wires and now have no ing light or oil lights on, when the ignition switch is on?

Year of Mini always helps with wiring problems. If you have joined the white wire to the white/black wire you have a short circuit on a circuit that isn't fused so it will damage the weakest point in the circuit probably the ignition switch. Give the year and model of the mini and a list of everything that is not working.

+'ve feed from ignigtion switch..to +'ve on coil.....then separate wire from +'ve on coil to distributor.
Then other wire out the dizzy and then to the -'ve of coil..

sorry lads yes it is a 1992 mini mayfair with a three clock dash ,i will trace the wires from the ignition switch,i have got a new ignition switch so ill fit that first thanks for your help and i will get back cheers.

Shorted or swapped over? Swapping them over shouldn't cause any damage, as the coil resistance is the same either way round. You would be sticking 12v up to the rev counter, if there is one, but I doubt that would be an issue either as similar, or worse, happens every time the ignition fires.
Does the fuel gauge show signs of moving? Pretty sure they share the same track on the PCB.
