During the restoration the upper area of the wheel arch where the air vent hoses attach needed work. During this I became aware that although this awkwardly shaped section closes off the area at the top of the wheel arch, it is still open into the engine bay, so any moisture getting into the engine bay will get into this "well" at the top of the wheel arch, where I'm sure it will eventually rust and rot through. So why the gap at the top of the inner wing under the scuttle panel on each side? Easy enough to deal with when refitting wings but a real pain in the ### when doing repair work?

The gap is in the dark recess behind the hydrolastic hose.
