Hello, I intermittently experience this loud whining/vibrating noise during warmer conditions once the car is warmed up, under load (1st, 2nd 3rd gear).  This only happens under acceleration.  Does not do it at a standstill revving in neutral or with the clutch pressed in gear.  Would appreciate any suggestions on things to look and check for on this.

Car is an early 90's, 1.3 SPI manual.

Hi raftoda,

Having listened to your sound track of the noise and it only happens when accelerating it sounds to me as though something is rubbing. With the forward inertia you get the opposite reaction like your body being pushed back into the seat. I suggest that you check if there is anything that is close to your fan, your alternator cooling blades (or any other revolving part) that could be forced backwards under acceleration therefore making contact with that part. I do not think it is the water pump failing as it's pitch is not high enough.
