I would like to fill my wheel arches more, i.e. wheel/tyre to stick out more, as the wheel arches come over the wheel and looks crap (my option lol),  i have been looking at 6 x 13" Ultralite Mini Wheels

I have a 1994 1.3i spi Racing green Mini, with the smaller matching colour wheel arches ( see my Profile )

are spacers a idea?? or a fatter tyre/wheel ?

I want to try and avoid Cutting arches etc : )

Hope anyone can help

(my first post go easy chaps)

First things. You will have to cut your front arches.

second the wheel sizes are just about the same.

you will end up with a car that does not ride or handle as well.

your profile pic is too small to see much.

Not sure this image will work ... not a simple way to add a image on here

So there no wheel or tyre i could fit without having to cut the arches etc just to feel my arch a little more..

13s run badly though I admit they can look good. Additionally, you may run into problems with your insurer, especially with spacers.

Is it on 165s?

yea agreed, I am happy to stay on 12s just need them to fill the wheel arch more, as at some angles the arch's hide the wheels completely lol, im on 145s at moment stock

165 tyres look a lot better than 145 on the standard Cooper 12" alloys.

Agree about 165 tyres looking better, and I think a small spacer to the rear helps as well... Although I last did that 20 years ago!

Changing to 13s shouldn't be done lightly.

Yes that looks spot on, so the 165 tyre will fit on the 12ich wheels i have on now? the tyres now are I believe are 145's

Yes they will but you may find they will catch on the front of the wing.

You love to say cut the arches don't you lol, i doubt the catch as there is a lot of play on my wheel arches now, so a slight change of the tyre size i  cant see it catching

Cutting the arches should depend on whether you have the original wheels (i've never had to yet if they had the standard Rover alloys). Find the wheel offset on your wheels to check if they are original.

Rover started fitting Rover Coopers with 165/60 tyres instead of 145/50 in June 1995 ....so it shouldn't be an issue on yours.

Not a good idea to call it a "1994 1.3i spi Racing green Mini", better to use the phrase "a 1994 racing green 1.3 spi Mini"

-saves confusion & being sent incorrect parts as Rover produced a 1989 'Racing Green' Mini model & a 1990 'Racing Green' Mini.

Yes 165 tyres fit the standard 12 inch Cooper alloys and were fitted to some models from the factory new and as said above, all Rover Coopers from 1995..

If they rub the rear shock absorbers slightly as tyre sidewalls/tyre brands can vary in tolerances, etc then thin 3mm & 5mm alloy spacers are available from Minispares without needing to change wheel studs:-

Put your wheel and tyre options into

https://www.willtheyfit.com/

Then you can see what is happening. You will be making a smaller but wider wheel.

turn your wheel so that the shoulder of the tyre is lined up with the wing. Measure that gap.  Is it 10mm? With your new tyres it will not be. If you change the wheel the ET may not be the same. And this could move the face of the wheel in or out.

also your ride height? Is it the same as original? Or old and worn and lower.

In my experience the tyres foul the arches under bump or droop whilst steering. So turn, hit bump or pothole catch bodywork.Get out, survey damage, shrug it off, carry on.Just my experience with 165/70 tyres on standard minilight type alloys.Steve..
