Wrap 2 turns of PTFE plumbers tape round each hose, pipe nipple, anti-clockwise, so that it doesn't ruck as you screw them up
That's a brilliant idea, so obvious I didn't think of it.
Not only will it help prevent them seizing, it should reduce leakage around the thread making them function better too.

You should never have leakage past the threads, the taper or copper washers seal.Steve..
Bleed screw - seals by the pointy end in the hole before the threads. Once they're cracked open some fluid can come up the threads. Worse still, air can get sucked the other way.

I used a surface drive spanner when I had this problem, with plenty of plus gas and patience.
Good luck.
I haven't run out of Plusgas yet...ran out of patience a while ago!

^ exactly this when I had to sort them out on the volvo a while back (and then removed all and replaced for good measure)
started with correct sized open spanner but the first one started to round off almost immediately, are they made of something soft or what

You need a set of these, perfect for rounded off nipples and other rusted nuts/bolts you come across, used on my mk2 golf ones at the weekend and replaced with new nipples.

Not sure if they go small enough for the rears though but be fine for the fronts.
