It’s definitely worth investing in David Vizards book, there are clear diagrams with measurements showing where to cut away the chamber walls. You can pick the book up for about £20 on eBay etc
If your machine shop aren’t confident in doing this kind of thing and are relying on you to supply the know how, maybe consider using someone who knows this kind of work first hand?
Most generic machine shops are fine for skimming and boring etc, but when it comes to stuff like this they usually don’t have a clue.
Phil.
the guy i give my engine parts to is familiar with the mini though he's done any performance improvement modifications for the mini specifically. In fact I'm not sure theres anyone in Malaysia that does it.
He's aware of the water channels and pointed it out when i showed him the templates and told him I wanted to increase the chambers by 1.6cc which is a good sign.
Anyway i'm not looking to squeeze the maximum possible bhp out of the engine.
Is there much difference between the first edition blue book and the later yellow (3rd edition) version of the book?
