Do you know what timing advance you’re getting at 5000rpm?

A decent pair of custom needles will have this right in 30mins.

You dont happen to have a set lying around i can buy…… In the meantime i’m gonna give the AAU needles a go. I also have an AEM afr gauge ive been planning to install for the past year and still haven’t done it, so this would be the perfect time for it.
AAU needles are quite a lot weaker than AAC. I also bit the bullet and shelled out for an AEM A/F meter and it's been worth it.

After comparing some needles on http://www.mintylamb.co.uk/suneedle , i think ill give the AAA a go. They have almost the same fueling low to mid but at high revs they are slightly leaner. However I really do need to hook up that afr gauge to see whats really happening.

Plan is to try AAA and AAU. I never mentioned AAC. since they are considerably weaker than my engine needs. Thanks everyone for your input greatly appreciated !

An AAC wouldn't run my 1275 or 998s with stage 1 kits, fit the AAU and it's in the ballpark... They then need fettled slightly and only someone with the right training and equipment can get them bang on.

Sorry but how do you know what the engine needs without measuring the afr?
I had found this article which gives you a vague idea of what needles to use as a starting point. Once again an AFR gauge will be installed to actually see what the engine really needs.
