Hi guys, I could not find the answer on this forum so here goes … how do people remove the chrome hub caps for those 10” steel wheels? Having abit of trouble with mine but I might be too careful as well. I don’t want to damage the wheels of course.

This is the hub cap I’m referring to.

Thanks!

A piece of 1.6mm plate 150mm long x 22mm wide with the last 11mm of one end bend at 90 degrees. and the other end rounded.  all corners smoothed off.  That was the standard removal tool used by hooking under the cap and pulling.  if it didn't move levering sideways tended to work though it could scratch the paint of the wheel.

Source, just went and measured the one I still have tucked away in my toolbox.

Thanks very much! Grateful but shocked that I’d have to fabricate a bespoke piece for a simple job.

I’ll see if there are tools online that are hopefully similar to what you described.

Thanks again!

Either drive over a bump or just whack a screwdriver or something in the side to pop them off.

You could try something like this with a cloth behind it so it doesn't scratch the paint

Tyre lever or the flat end of the factory wheel brace

Nylon wedge, similar to the one above but in nylon.
Used to remove car trim too.

It bent my nylon wedge/trim tool. Quite insane!
