Any help gratefully received! We have a 1997 MPI Cooper with no spark. It was working fine before restoration but now doesn't work for some reason.  We've replaced crank sensor and coil pack with no joy.

What readings should I be getting on the wiring plug that plugs into the coil pack, at present we are getting 12.5 volts but when its cranked it goes to zero? not sure if this is right!

Starting to lose the will to live with it, any help would be amazing! Thanks for reading

Are you sure the immobiliser is disarmed?

We think so!  The car turns over, would it still do this if the imbolliser was armed? Thanks for your help

Sorry, to clarify, it turns over if the immobiliser is armed?

Yes, mine immobilised the fuel pump but not the starter, until I had the passive arming turned off.

I've never checked if it disables the ignition.

The alarm sounds the horn only if the bonnet, boot or a door is opened.

How much of a restoration did it get? New panels and paint, engine rebuild?Total or partial strip?

When you turn the ignition to position 1 do you hear the fuel pump prime itself? Also have you tried resetting the fuel cut off switch? Black round rubber button up near the bulkhead?

When an MPi trows up unusual electronic faults  most often it is earthing, especially on a freshly painted car. For ECU and engine faults it is usually the earth behind the expansion bottle. Don't be afraid to remove some paint here it often takes several goes to get it sorted.
