Tie Rod Ball Joint Nut Seized
Best Answer Coalhod , 04 July 2023 - 03:40 PM
You might try placing a piece of wood or similar soft item on a floor jack and then applying pressure from the bottom of the tie rod ball joint. You don't need a lot of pressure, just enough to break the nut loose.

It’s seized onto the thread / bolt. Everything is just turning together.
Cheers.

The Tie rod ball joint. The nut on the top just turns with the bolt/thread. Ive attached a photo the bits pointed to with the green lines turn together, how do i grip the thread to release the nut. ?

It might be that even if you get the nut off a new one may not tighten without spinning the pin. Just cut the old nut off and buy a complete new track rod end, fixed.

Thank you for everyones help. Yep this is what worked, put a jack under it to put pressure on the force the joint together. Came off fairly easy after that.

Cool. And we tend to call that the track rod end as it is attached to the rack track rod. The Tie bar is the forward facing bar that bolts to the lower suspension arm.
