Panel Joins At B Post

Best Answer sonikk4 , 14 July 2023 - 02:26 PM

Personally keep it as is. Yes you could make it flush but if you do then seam weld it, not fill it. It will crack otherwise as its only spot welded there.

However ultimately its your car, so do what YOU WANT TO DO!!!

Just wanted to get some opinions on a point me and my dad have been discussing

the B post, at the bottom where the rear quarter meets the step, and at the top just below the roof gutter, there are diagonal joins where the panels overlap and join together

I was saying to my dad, shall we filler those smooth for a nice cleaner looking finish.  His opinion was, no, mini people will be expecting to see the joins and its a feature of the design, people might think there's some kind of bodge going on if you smooth it over

I can sort of see where he's coming from but I'd still prefer a flushed off finish

anyway what are other people's thoughts on that

ah..  no I don't want to get into fully welding it .. I was sort of easy either way but I thought it was just a question of style choice

that being the case then maybe just leaving alone is the right way to go
