No Electric

Best Answer viz139 , 20 July 2023 - 08:29 PM

I would think you have a very poor connection on one of the main cables. main battery cable or boot earth. A poor connection  will allow enough milliAmps  through to power a multimeter or test lamp but no more .Nothing in the car is working, everything is feed through the earth strap in the boot and the battery cable to the starting motor so you need to check thoes four connections first.

How old is the fuel, is there a spark at the spark plugs?

You say no auxiliary, what do you mean?

What size of battery did you purchase and how old is it? I get my mot station to order me the newest 063 size battery the supplier has... Don't use Euro car parts or Halfords.

You ideally want a Yuasa or Bosch brand battery

No disrespect intended but how handy are you?Wiring diagram and a test light should quickly pinpoint any issues. There are many potential failure points but essentially it is a very simple electrical system.have fun,Steve..

Am i reading that right you have 13v 'at the steering column'

do you mean as in the main supply into the ignition switch

so if you're getting no aux power with the key turned, perhaps the problem is with the ignition barrel.  should be a pretty simple task to bridge pins manually on the back side and see if power starts getting through that way

Im hesitant to point out which colour wires are which and make life really easy for any potential thieves but lets just say it's not overly difficult to work out

No horn gives a bit of a clue, the horn circuit is fed directly from the battery via a fuse, but if as you say the fuses are ok, the problem might be that no power is coming to the master connection on the solonoid or the  terminal connections are dirty.

You will need a test lamp as a minimum to fault find and I would start at the solonoid  terminal and work out to the fuse box from there.
