Having a few issues with my 1993 Carb Sprite Auto since getting it a few months ago. Just got back from the garage after a service / new distributor / thermostat. 10 mins from leaving the radiator fluid gushes out of the side of the bonnet over the windscreen. It then emits a lot of white smoke filling cabin. I took it back to garage any ideas? If head gasket what are approx cost for garage refit. TIA

by smoke i presume you mean steam ?

 

if they replaced the thermostat my initial assumption would be someone forgot to tighten up the top radiator hose clamps or thermostat housing bolts rather than it being head gasket failure

you do have to be a bit wary some garages will try all sorts to get money out of you (not that it's necessarily the case here)

 

I had an volvo once which never dripped one single drop of water. yet suddenly after an MOT it was bone dry and they were sucking teeth and going oh you want to get that looked at

 

filled it up again, not a problem.  blatant pisstakery they'd just drained it
