Pre-Verto Clutch Arm Installation

When installing the clutch arm into the plunger, what’s the thought of putting a smear of grease on the ball end of the clutch arm. Or does doing so give occasion to collect grit in the grease become a fine grinding paste? I’ve always installed them dry.
Use some graphite grease as it doesn't dry out like normal grease.

A smear of high melting point grease is a good idea on the moving parts and pivot
