"Wales will be one of the first countries in the world, and the first nation in the UK, to introduce legislation to have a default 20mph speed limit on roads where cars mix with pedestrians and cyclists."
We are introducing a default 20mph speed limit on restricted roads across Wales, from 17 September 2023:-

Many of the outer London boroughs now have 20 mph roads by default including main roads but if you do obey the 20 limit because you are not a local and don't know where the cameras are hidden, you constantly get frustrated local car/van drivers and motorcyclists/scooters sitting on your rear bumper trying to speed you up to 30+ or doing a do or die overtaking manoeuvre to get past!
Meanwhile in all the residential side roads where 20mph is a good idea there are no cameras or traffic Police to enforce the limit anyway, so no one takes any notice of it.....

Crazy ! More traffic more pollution. I suppose the cyclist's will be able to go as fast as they like as they do in London ?

or even worse, the "it's a limit not a target" brigade taking 20 to mean 18 or 16 is probably even better

the ones that would usually be plodding along at 26 in a 30 which would be bad enough but you can just about live with because it is at least actually moving

not to point fingers or anything but .. Peugeot.. Prius.. you are the worst.  or just generally any brand you order by the yard like it's a pair of curtains and you have zero interest in motoring.  I'll have 12 foot of red car please.  Kia?  yeah, whatever

seriously can't people just drive at a decent speed AND pay enough attention that they stop in time to not kill everyone, it's not hard

I always thought it was up to pedestrians, cyclist, horse riders etc to take responsibility for there own actions rather than making motorists responsible for them all.

I thought 40km/h (24.8548 mph) was slow. That is generally the lowest speed limit that is seen on roads here and that is usually only in construction zones.

I'll bet they will still be manufacturing cars that can do over 200mph so the elitist can spend their millions and put them in their garages/ warehouse just to say they have one or two but never drive them !

I always thought it was up to pedestrians, cyclist, horse riders etc to take responsibility for there own actions rather than making motorists responsible for them all.

We're born pedestrians, there's no toddler test; no medical standards to exclude the blind, deaf....

Driving a car is a qualified privilege, you have to pass a test to get a permit. You accept a greater level of responsibility.
