Are they necessary? My standard callipers are more than capable of locking up the wheels. Unless you're adding a lot more weight you (they) won't see any benefit.

The common bodge was to grind them down with varying results.

I've got cooper reverse rims and so far only the standard calipers fit, tried the Minispares four pot they catch, even spoke to the guy that manufacturers them he kindly sent out a blank so I could check the fit.

4-pot callipers are totally unnecessary for a Mini on 10" wheels, or any wheels come to that.
They might be useful if you were doing long-distance racing, as even full-on rally cars don't need them. The key to braking with a Mini in competition is brake-pad specification and quality. Best pads for 7.5" discs are the carbon-Metallic ones as supplied by Mini Spares and comp brake fluid.

That is not the question. 4-pots or even 6-pots look good in many peoples' eyes (mine too) and that is reason enough to fit them...

That must be the top answer so far! 👍😁

KAD (Kent Auto Developments) produce 4 pots for 10 inch wheels. And they come in several colours

in fairness if someone was asking because they thought it would improve the braking, then it's the correct answer and potentially saves them money time and effort
but yeah if you're just thinking about cosmetics then fair enough

Mini Spares have these;-
http://www.minispare...|Back to search
Though currently showing out of stock.
They use the same caliper for the 8.4" versions, only the mounting holes are drilled in a different location.
I've used several sets of these now in the 8.4" version and recently tried a set of KADs. The Mini Spares Calipers do give Fantastic brakes, The KADs do too, but they flex way more than the Mini Spares versions, you can feel it in the pedal. The KADs also use a 7 mm bleed nipple and being an alloy caliper, a stainless nipple should be used, which spares for only seem to be available through KAD. The Mini Spares Calipers use a 10 mm nipple which in stainless is much easier to find.
One down side I have found with the Mini Spares versions in the 8.4" types is when the disc gets very hot (as in very very hot !) it grows in diameter and will foul the bridge of the caliper, though, that shouldn't be an issue with the 7.5" versions.
Just be aware though that while these Calipers all work with 7.5" discs, most 10" wheels will go over them, but not all.

From what I have read, only the 7.5" Cooper S caliper will fit under the Cooper S 10" wheel.
I have had a look too as did want to put Cooper S wheels on my mini. I have now decided on 10" Minilights using the same offset as the Cooper S.
There is a significant weight saving in the 4 pot alloy calipers compares to the 2 pot steel caliper. Which reduces the unsprung weight considerably, resulting in improvements in almost all aspects of driving the car.
The 7.5" brakes are lighter than 7.9" due to the smaller dimensions but depending in wheel choice 7.9" may fit under.
I also read that the biggest disc that could fit under 10" wheels is 8.3" but I am not sure which wheel this fits under, and if an 8.4" or 7.9" caliper was used.
I hope some of this info is useful.

with an 8.3" disk you can get 10" split rims on with Kad 6 pots,
under the original S rims you are severely limited, basically, its either S calipers, or a fiesta conversion as the only viable options, I seem to remember mention of the Specialist components 4 pots fitting some wheel's but cant find any details on them now, but I'd be suprised if they went under S rims

KAD did have a template on their website you could print out and check with your wheels for clearance.
