Hi all, i have just changed the head on my 998 from standard to a 12g295... all went to plan untill i filled up the radiator! ... I've got water gushing out on the floor! I have found the leak and its coming from the little pipe that lets water into the head, on the underside of the head, just above where the bottom hose goes into the block... the problem is i dont no how to stop it, i cant see how to replace the pipe without taking the head off :w00t: and i dont want to do that! Has anyone got any ideas on how to sort it out?

Cheers Chris

It's called the bypass hose.

They are a complete pig to change but still do-able with the head on.

The replacement is only a couple of quid. I even saw some for sale in my local motor factors so you should be able to pick one up easily.

I'm sure it's in the Haynes manual.

remove the water pump!! ok u have to get the radiator out but thats 1 big bolt at the bottom and the 2 little ones at the top!! then its just remove the fan and 4 bolts for the water pump and you're home free!

I did mine last night, whatever you do don't try and cheat by forcing the new pipe in, it results in bruised and cut knuckles and a broken new hose!!

It's best just to do it properly, radiator out, fan off, water pump out, replace the pipe then put the jigsaw back together.

by the way, if you have a Motormania near you they are in the bits and bobs section for a quid! its the same one as mini spares sell for £3, packaging and everything.
