Glad you're going for a standard resto. Will look lush I'm sure!
I like the idea of hiding the stereo... maintains the retro look, and theives won't think there's one in there either!

Hiding the radio under the seat will be a great idea...if I take it upto Uni i don't want it to attract too much attention...my Fiat did and i i dont want to see that happen to a mini
At first i was thinking about changing it slightly..keeping it original but with modern add-ons, like arches and wheels and spots and things....
But thought that seeing as it's such a rare car, I'd love to see it completely original

Found a rather exciting tool in the barn...Thick metal prong with a twist on the end and a wooden handle...rather good to whack things with, wasn't it Mart
(The first whack to Ronnie nearly made me cry :'( Poor little thing :'( )
So, what did we find?
Firstly, a whole in the rear off-side quarter, covered by filler...though this happened to Dog's and I'm assured that it's not all that hard!
Next...the valance has gone on both corners...two nice big rust holes!
The front offside wing needs to be replaced...(however the nearside isn't too bad, but we made the decision to rip the front off and replace it all..theres minor rust on it, but better safe than sorry a few years down the line)
Also, the inner offside sill needs patching.
Other than that, the sills seem to be solid, the doors are solid, but could do with re-skinning, the floors are "immaculate", the boot floor needs a little bit of attention, but it's only really surface rust.
At the moment, I'm please to report, things aren't looking too bad! Not too bad at all!
Engine wise, for the moment I think that I'll just get the 998 rebuilt, and change the gearbox.
I'll add some photos up later, when I'm back at Uni
Thanks

The site of filler "exploding" with a nice blow, of a "gutting" hook looking tool, thingy... and Jean's face, she really didn't know what to say!
Owt much to do on it... if the barn was "doored" and I didn't have mine to do, I'd be able to finish the welding by xmas, but then I need to get rid of the CBA sindrom...

Ronnie looks better already without a red boot
I'm setting aside £400 for the bodywork...The front's going to be done with Heritage panels and the valance will be patched up (not filled! > ) and as will the arches

However, I'm back in Hereford and have some news!!
The engine that's in the 25 at the mo has done 88,000 ish! - so I was going to get this rebuilt and just keep the same one.
However - I've just come across an engine from a mini that's about to be broken...
It's a 998 complete with:
Gearbox, subframe, brake disks and calipers and all the lil' extra bits n bobs attached to it!
The best part about it...? It's only done 14,000 miles
He's asking £125 for the lot!
