Would like to fit a rev counter for my car. I have the classic tripple clock setup.

Most people go for the 80mm smiths one, but I'm thinking a 52mm one would look better. I'm aware that minispares sell one by smiths but I just don't like the look of it?

Have tried scouring fleabay for a few others, there are some cheapo ones going for $20-$30 that might do the trick, but I get the feeling they will always look out of place, especially as they tend to come with LED lights instead of incandescent.

Anyone have other suggestions I might consider? Something that would fit in with the classic dash.

Try searching for 2 inch (the old name for 52mm) also I guess why gauges ended up at 52mm and not 50mm?

Agreed.
For anyone not familiar with getting the best out of Google (and to aid the OP), open the Google search page, type in "52mm rev counter" (and hit return), then select the "images" tab at the top. There's 100s to choose from, just select the style and source location that suits you.

I have an 80mm one from Smiths and run the centre 3 clock dash. I put the rev counter on the driver side air vent, fits perfect!

in fairness to OP it's not actually as straight forward as 'just go and look on google' and I think we can do a little better than just sending people off to work it out for themselves can't we, isn't that the whole point of a forum

he's quite right, they are mostly larger types or questionably cheap with high likelihood of tacky crap LED backlighting which would stick out like a sore thumb, or worse a hideous LCD readout, it's not knightrider jeez

personally I would say why not convert to the later style with the rev counter, and the clocks right in front of you which actually I prefer anyway (though I appreciate that is just personal taste and not 'better or worse') like this but find one at a sensible price obviously https://www.ebay.co....:Bk9SR-LP7tfkYg

alternatively depending on your budget have you tried the usual motorsports suppliers, for example Merlin have these https://www.merlinmo...00rpm-333015010 but you'd have to phone or email and ask what type of back lighting they have because it isn't obvious on the webpage (or I didn't see it anyway)

its been a while since I responded to this thread but thank you all for the suggestions. I did in fact try the googling method, but there's so much ugly generic stuff out there that I decided it would be better to ask for specific suggestions from people rather than searching blindly through thousands of options.

I quite like the Yazaki ones. and there is also a VDO one which I think would look perfect but is really expensive, so Yazaki it is.

Does anyone know if this model is 2"? The listing doesn't say but looking around yazaki tachs, this does fit the bill. I have messaged the seller asking him to measure it just in case.

Would this yazaki work with a electronic ignition dizzy? Im suing Minispares C-27H7701

Alternatively, this one from TIM isn't too bad either. Though again, I'm not sure if it will work with my dizzy.

anyway if anyone else is interested those Yazaki's are in fact 52mm though it appears to be a RVI type rev counter so it may not work with my electronic dizzy without some additional electronics. Worth a shot though.

That Yazaki appears to be a similar age to the one I’ve just installed (same colour wiring). Mine works fine with electronic ignition

Here’s a brochure

I was about to suggest looking at VDO options but it looks like you already found them.

Mooneyes 2 5/8” tach. A bit expensive but a nice throwback to the early 60s days of hot rods.
