Yes and No. Provided the base vehicle is not a special model then it is little different to other engine comversions. I would rather see a mini ev than one of these "they all look the same" shitboxes.
But collectible or special models should be left to the purists.

Not for me, I see these conversions as nothing more than vanity or engineering projects, and in a mini you end up with a car with real world range of around 80 miles plus as a guy who posted on here found out you will need to put the car through the IVA if you change the chassis/monocoque at all.

collectible or special models should be left to the purists.

Agree with the basic principle, but at the same time though that opens up the debate of 'what is special'  ?  there were so many 'collectors editions' that were basically just bog standard minis with painted wing mirrors and a word written down the side .. for example mine is a mayfair, wow, so what, there were probably hundreds of thousands of them...  designer, red hot, jet black, this, that, the other, personally (and this is only an opinion) I don't really see any of these as exactly museum worthy things that need to be specially preserved, at the time it was just an attempt to sell cars. Ford did the same with their escorts and fiestas (and so have other companies)

even coopers aren't exactly few and far between are they (the more recent models anyway)

for me really the only real 'sacrilege' would be doing it to a really early model which has survived uncut and with all original parts.  if it's a 'triggers broom' car with all new panels anyway, so what

for me that leaves a very big pile of cars that are more than fine to be modified to anyone's preferences, and really electric is the future, if anything it might mean more minis staying around on the roads for longer and not just sitting in dry storage being pampered but never actually driven which is the most shameful thing you can do to any car

that is just one opinion though I'm not trying to start a war over it lol

if it is able to be converted back to petrol and the shell isn't cut to pieces then why not. most seem to be front subframe units anyway

These EV water tanks are sometimes needed should the Lithium battery have a problem while charging. It will put out the fire more quickly and prevent it reigniting but may of course cause future rust issues in a classic Mini EV conversion unless all vulnerable areas have been well Waxoyled...

"This is an example of the way in which Ev’s are managed following a fire. There are several different companies producing them, some in the uk. There are some serious issues even if you can get hold of one of these. The water is contaminated with some nasties and is difficult to dispose of, you have to get the bath to the vehicle before it has done excessive damage etc, you have to load it whilst it is still in a dangerous state, the bath can only take a car and so commercials are still without an emergency option, the cost is very high for both equipment and disposal, the vehicle is a total loss after being dunked and so the list goes on. We will not allow storage of ev or hybrids in the compound following recovery from an accident. They are pushed out onto some waste ground where they cannot cause damage to their surroundings."

That water tank idea is a product of too many people being paid good money to sit around on their backsides with no actual function other than to come up with convoluted solutions to simple problems or solutions to problems that do not exist. it shows a singular lack of knowledge of the problem and how best to deal with it.
