Hi, I'm looking for some advice on how to weld a new rear side panel (lower half) onto a clubman estate.

The door aperture is fine (plug weld), the c pillar will be butt welded vertically down.  Its the top below the rear window frame I am struggling to work out how best to tackle.  Do I butt weld above the body line so the join is is hidden by the window frame trim.  Or do I lap weld by joggling the new panel to accept the old side, as you can't get to behind due to the wind frame how to you push the new side out to meet the old panel?  The second option I think will be stronger.

Hopefully I've described what I am up to, any advice or photos would be very appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark

Edge joggler, if your welding is as crap as mine it'll be your favourite tool.

If you can, get the replacement window channels from m-machine and replace those at the Sam time. These will then spot/plug weld along the top edge of the new rear quarter.
