When I used to repair these years ago I just used a folded 90 degree angle and then cut slots in it so it could be bent to match the profile. It always worked well and provided a solid mounting.

All sorted now. I got confused due to the fact that the A panel edge towards the hinge is supplied at right angles to the o/s face and that you had to fold this edge over when fitting. You learn something new everyday! Trouble is this is the first MK3 I've worked on all the rest have been MK 1's and MK2's . Thanks again to those in the know.
