Fitting a water pump tommorow on 1992 998cc. Part has arrived with gasket which is fine, just wanted to know if theres any pre-fitting proceedures I should do like greasing up or WD40 in the moving part.

i would put a very light smear of multipurpose grease around the gasket though, just helps it seal it up properly.

You can get one from Argos for £15 but I dont think it goes as low as 17 lb/ft.
No one in your club got one that you can borrow for two minutes to nip the bolts up ?
When doing bits like this it is really important to use it to get the seal correct, too tight and you squish the gasket too much and it wont seal properly, too loose and it wont seal properly and will work its way loose.

Like £15 won in a test with a load of others in a mini mag a little while back.

A torque wrench is a spring item, as you wind to the correct setting (writen on the body of the tool) a sping hold a sort of clutch. When the twisting force overcomes the spring (IE when the nut is torqued up) the wrench will click or go. Digital ones vibrate or bleep.

So what would be the best one to get as an all rounder. as i guess i better tighten the nuts on my water pump proper.
Could someone give us a link on the best one.. thanks alot
