Hi it’s a 92 Mayfair just had a look on the link that was posted and it’s looking like it is 3as immobiliser , do I really need this? There is a large wired socket that will plug into it but I can’t see what would plug in at the side of that it also has a white wire coming out of it which has been cut off

personally I would say get rid, correct wiring back to standard, install a start button with associated flip switches for ignition on

my plan is, hidden switch that flips a relay to enable start button.  in standard position without holding secret button, it honks the horn to attract attention

I don't want a lock barrel in mine either if nothing else it's something for your knee to smash into in a crash, but also more relveant to me im using metro lock barrel in the drivers door, boot lid and petrol cap, and having 2 separate keys seems a bit naff

Removing the steering lock may be an issue if the car is ever stolen ... your insurance may refuse your claim.

fair point there, maybe a disclock would be sufficient though? (or removeable wheel)  it's not like the original steering lock was difficult to overcome

worth bearing in mind though thanks possibly just one of those things you have to note at the beginning and get them to agree up front

Assuming it's recovered, "The thief must have removed it. It was there when I parked the car."
