When the car is shut down. I turn on the lights and there is no sound. When the car is on but not running I switch the lights from on to high to low beam
There ia sound coming from underneath the dash. A couple times it was a continuous sound. Sounds like it’s coming from a speaker , other times just a quick sound.
Anybody have any ideas.

Sounds like a relay that has the points all jammed up and sticking.

The current will be started to flow but then insufficient in the points and which causes the noise.

Might help if you tell us what car it is age and the like..

Does the car have spot lights?

Maybe best to have a dig about at the back and locate the relays and see which is clicking.

I would start by looking under the dash at the Euro Dim Dip relay (pink one) mounted near the fog light switch. See it that is where the noise is coming from. Mine started making a noise out of the blue and fitting a new one cured it.

Or just bypass the relay as it isn't actually needed as the bill wasn't passed at parliament so the change never happened
